    Learning goals

    • Understand Archwing as high-speed three-dimensional movement.
    • Learn why Archwing can feel slippery.
    • Practice vertical movement, braking, and aiming.
    • Use Archwing for efficient open-world travel.

    Explanation

Archwing is useful in open worlds, Archwing missions, some Railjack-related space situations, and fast travel between distant objectives. It can feel slippery because you are moving through open space with different acceleration and turning rules than normal Warframe movement.

    Controls and smart use

Default controls can differ by platform and custom keybinds. If your controls do not match, follow the action name in Options > Controls.

    • Access: complete The Archwing quest to unlock your first Archwing and Archwing missions. The quest also leads into using an Archwing Launcher gear item for open landscapes.
    • Use in open worlds: equip the Archwing Launcher in the Gear Wheel, then select it during eligible open-world missions.
    • Movement: Archwing uses controls similar to normal Warframe movement, applied in three-dimensional space. Use W/A/S/D to steer on PC, mouse/camera aim for direction, jump/ascend and crouch/descend bindings where available, and sprint/boost bindings for speed.
    • Smart use: use Archwing for long open-world travel, vertical traversal, and Railjack space movement. Slow down before the target so speed does not turn into overshooting.

    What should I do?

Practice taking off and flying in a straight line, changing altitude without losing direction, and slowing down or stopping near a target. The beginner priority is arriving where you intended, not maximum speed.

How do I avoid wasting time?

Do not fly full speed into every objective marker. Start slowing or adjusting before you reach the target. Overshooting objectives wastes time.

    Common mistakes

Watch for these patterns while practicing.

    • Flying too fast without knowing how to stop.
    • Overshooting bounty objectives.
    • Fighting the camera instead of steering smoothly.
    • Forgetting vertical space.
    • Treating Archwing like bullet jump instead of flight.

    Practical example

In an open-world bounty, Archwing can save time by flying directly to the next objective, but only if you can land near the target instead of overshooting it.

    Key Takeaways

    • Archwing is a travel tool. Learn to arrive cleanly before chasing maximum speed.

    Practical task

Fast travel is only useful if you can arrive cleanly.

    1. Enter an open-world area where Archwing is available.
    2. Pick a visible landmark or objective marker.
    3. Fly toward it.
    4. Start slowing or adjusting before arrival.
    5. Land close to the target.
    6. Repeat with three different landmarks.

You can reach and land near a target without overshooting badly.
